About Saumya

Saumya's design journey has been truly unique. She set up the 'The Aymuas Project' in 2009 as a space where she could explore sustainable design. Copywriter by day, designer by night - she worked hard to learn the nuances of design from hands on experiences. Her teachers were craftsmen that had been honing their craft over generations.

A restless creative at heart, Saumya journey had few more pit stops that has shaped her into the designer she is today. She has conceptualed & anchored at India's most trusted news channel - NDTV. And developed content for Oxfam, international not for profit organisation.

While juggling many creative hats, in 2013, Saumya designed Moustache Jaipur, a backpacker's hostel leading to redefining the importance of spatial design for hostels across India. Her projects since then have ranged from designing residential spaces for the young to commercial spaces.

She has not only been designing spaces but her deep passion for design has led her to set up design teams for start-ups across sectors in India. She founded OYOxDesign a multidisciplinary design team & mentored young designers. OxD focused on design at scale and designed over 1000 spaces.

'The Ayumas Project' since it's inception has designed over 50 projects ranging from 400 SFT to 40,000 SFT .

We love working with first time home owners, having successfully completed 15+ projects with clients who dipped their feet first time into design. A small team, our focus is on creating sustainable designs. Attention is paid to the smallest detail and we firmly believe if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Design is Saumya's happy place.

When Saumya is not designing, she loves museum hopping & window shopping. She is also a pet parent to her wonderfully weird doberman & desi bully .
